Rene Catalan thought he was close to victory in the first round, but he gives credit and respect to ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua Pacio for pulling off the win. "I felt like his heel had already snapped, but that's Joshua," Catalan said. "He's the champion, and he's not going to give up."

    11/8/2019 3:38:01 PM
Joshua Pacio may be in his second reign as ONE Strawweight World Champion, but it took this title defense to make him feel like a true World Champion.

"Now I can say I am a World Champion," he proclaimed. "It's an amazing feeling!"
    11/8/2019 3:34:27 PM

Team Lakay Head Coach Mark Sangiao was as proud as could be with Joshua Pacio's performance. "I'm very happy we made it again on top," he said. "That's life. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. You just have to do what you can."

Joshua Pacio defeats Rene Catalan via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:29 of round two to retain the ONE Strawweight World Title
    11/8/2019 3:14:07 PM
    ROUND TWO

Pacio threw a leg kick and Catalan caught it, but the ONE Strawweight World Champion defended the takedown attempt.

They hit the canvas and once again, "The Passion" was on top. He was originally in side control, but he advanced to the mount position. Pacio secured an arm-triangle, passed back to side control to tighten it up, and Catalan was forced to tap.

    ROUND ONE

Pacio tested his range with kicks early and then landed a beautiful spinning back kick to the midsection. He scored a quick takedown and went to work. Or, at least he planned to.

Catalan attacked with a heel hook, and "The Passion" attempted a toe lock of his own. Pacio abandoned his submission to defend his rival's heel hook, but once he escaped danger, he assumed top position.

The defending World Champion peppered his opponent's body with punches. Pacio advanced to side control. Catalan scrambled, but the round ended before they could get back to their feet.

Catalan doesn’t just want to win the ONE Strawweight World Title. He is looking for some redemption against Team Lakay. He told us more at ONEFC.com.
    11/8/2019 2:50:34 PM
Pacio is looking to successfully defend his belt for the first time. It will be extra tough, however.

Catalan is riding the hottest win streak in the promotion’s strawweight division with six consecutive victories. That momentum is difficult to stop.

Eduard “Landslide” Folayang defeats Amarsanaa “Spear” Tsogookhuu via unanimous decision (mixed martial arts — lightweight)
    11/8/2019 2:45:24 PM
    ROUND TWO

Folayang used his wushu to keep Tsogookhuu at range, but the Mongolian leaped in and the pair engaged in the clinch momentarily.

The hometown hero's confidence started to grow with the crowd's chants.

Folayang continued to throw punches and Tsogookhuu began to let loose more with his fists. However, both of them leaned forward and their heads unintentionally collided.

The Filipino hero fell to the mat and wore damage on his face. Tsogookhuu attempted the follow-up with ground and pound, but an injury timeout was called to let medical officials check on Folayang's wound.

Unfortunately, Folayang is unable to continue and the bout went to a technical decision.
    11/8/2019 2:41:23 PM
    ROUND ONE

Folayang showed up ready to strike. He opened fire with a spinning back fist and low kick, which failed to connect. Tsogookhuu continued to test his rival while Folayang served up spinning roundhouse kicks.

The Filipino hero scored big with a couple of kicks to his opponent's leg, but the Mongolian warrior kept going. Folayang's combination of striking - punches, kicks, and elbows - made it hard for Tsogookhuu to find a rhythm.

With the clock winding down, Tsogookhuu advanced and unloaded punches, but Folayang answered with a nice spinning kick. The bell rang shortly after.

Folayang met his future wife at the gym. Cool, right?

    11/8/2019 2:22:55 PM

Folyang, the former ONE Lightweight World Champion, recently suffered back-to-back losses to Shinya Aoki and Eddie Alvarez. He knows he must win this match if he wants to get back into the title picture, and he believes he will.

However, Tsogookhuu told ONEFC.com why he believes he has what it takes to defeat the Filipino hero.

    11/8/2019 2:21:30 PM

Geje Eustaquio lived up to his "Rematch King" moniker. This time, he avenged a prior loss from Toni Tauru. Although Tauru seemingly came close to submitting him again in the first round, the Filipino was confident he would be just fine. "I know it was the same position, a position that I lost in," he said. "But I practiced that situation a thousand times, and practice makes perfect."

    11/8/2019 2:21:00 PM

And now, it’s time for the co-main event of the evening. The Philippines’ own Eduard “Landslide” Folayang meets Mongolia’s Amarsanaa “Spear” Tsogookhuu.

“The Million Dollar Baby” Sangmanee Sathian MuayThai defeats Azize “The Magician” Hlali via unanimous decision (ONE Super Series Muay Thai — bantamweight)

    11/8/2019 2:18:13 PM
    ROUND THREE

As Sangmanee pushed forward, Hlali tried defending with a push kick. He soon caught another one of the Thai’s kicks, but he could not sweep him.

With two minutes left, Sangmanee locked his opponent in the clinch and unloaded a melee of knee strikes into his rival's body. Following a brief separation, they were tied up again, and more knees were unleashed.

A doomed spinning back kick from Hlali missed the mark and caused him to fall to the canvas. Once he got back up, Sangmanee moved forward with an attack, but the action died down in the waning seconds of the match-up.
