ONE: FIRE & FURY (ENGLISH)

    ROUND TWO

Juniku began the round with more output, but the defense of the Norwegian was tight. The two clinched along the fence and exchanged knees.

An exchange of low kicks saw both strikers score. Hogstad came forward with a combination, but the Aussie caught a kick and dumped her to the canvas. The referee gave Juniku a yellow card due to taking too many steps forward with her sweep, something which she was previously warned about.

The Aussie scored with a straight right hand in the final minute, and then a battle of leg kicks ensued.

    ROUND ONE

Hogstad was the first to connect with a kick to the body as Juniku stepped forward, but it was a tentative start to the bout. Both women were trying to figure out their distance and timing.

"Ninja Line" was able to connect with counter strikes when the Aussie would attempt to open up. Hogstad caught a body kick and laced in a nice straight right hand. The Aussie struggled to close the distance, but she was the one pushing the action in the opening round.

Speaking of which, we just saw Lito Adiwang. “Thunder Kid” was naturally thrilled about his big victory over Pongsiri Mitsatit in his home country. He was quick to credit his teammates and the raucous support of the local crowd for pushing him to finish.

    1/31/2020 11:28:11 AM

Gina Iniong was delighted to win tonight, but she was disappointed she didn't get the finish. She rushed off to watch her teammate Lito Adiwang compete before we could finish talking to her. But we'll find her again later!

Lito Adiwang defeats Pongsiri Mitsatit via submission (kimura) at 3:02 of round one (mixed martial arts – strawweight)

    1/31/2020 11:24:01 AM
    ROUND ONE

Both men were hesitant to engage but it was Adiwang who struck first with a blistering high kick that rattled Mitsatit back onto the mat. The Filipino sensation continued to unload with ferocious ground and pound strikes, but his Thai opponent was able to get back to his feet.

Adiwang sprung for the takedown, wrapped up Mitsatit's arm and tried for the kimura, but “The Smiling Assassin” got away and reversed into a body lock.

Mitsatit and Adiwang jostled for position on the canvas but Adiwang broke the deadlock when he stepped over his opponent’s head, locked up the arm in a kimura, and got the tap in the first round.

Gina Iniong defeats Asha Roka via unanimous decision (mixed martial arts – women’s atomweight)

    1/31/2020 11:08:47 AM

    ROUND THREE

The pair stood toe-to-toe to kick off the third and final stanza. Roka went for a spinning back fist, which Iniong scouted out wonderfully. Each athlete went for single strikes – the Indian with punches and Iniong with kicks.

“Conviction” landed a right hand, and then she latched onto her opponent with a body lock and brought her to the Circle Wall. The Filipina snuck around to her back, threw "Knockout Queen" over her head, and immediately jumped into guard.

Iniong moved to half guard, kept tight control on top, and threw punches to the head and elbows to the body. With less than 50 seconds left in the bout, the referee stood them up.

Roka missed with a superwoman punch, but Iniong hit a side kick. She later connected with a roundhouse to the body. The Indian kept marching forward in search of a knockout, but it never came.

    1/31/2020 11:08:38 AM

    ROUND TWO

Roka landed a solid overhand right in the opening moments of round two, but Iniong walked through it, kept her head down, and then hit a takedown. As the Filipina tried to pin down an arm, the Indian bridged and took top control – briefly, that is. Iniong scrambled and forced “Knockout Queen” onto her back once again.

Iniong continued to smother her opponent with a fierce grappling attack, eventually pinning her against the Circle Wall and throwing short strikes at the head. The Filipina slid her arms around the neck for a guillotine choke and cranked, but Roka tried punching her way out. The hold kept getting tighter, but she survived to the bell.

    1/31/2020 11:02:00 AM
    ROUND ONE

Iniong went for the takedown in the opening seconds of the round and immediately took her Indian rival to the canvas. She advanced from half guard to side control, threw a knee to the head, and then attempted to slide into full mount – but was denied.

The Filipina was back in her opponent’s guard, moved her towards the Circle Wall, and frustrated Roka with random shots to the head and body. Iniong postured up and then got to her feet, where she stood over the Indian and threw kicks at her legs. She jumped back into her rival’s guard right when the bell rang.

Rodlek PK.Saenchaimuaythaigym defeats Chris Shaw via unanimous decision (ONE Super Series Muay Thai — bantamweight)
    1/31/2020 10:41:01 AM
    ROUND THREE

The Scot showed some urgency on the outset of the final round as he attempted more elbows from close range, but Rodlek defended them well. Rodlek landed another combination that finished with a strong outside leg kick. As the two mixed it up, Rodlek swept the leg out from under Shaw.

There was a brief stop to the action to check a cut on the top of the head of Rodlek, but the action was underway again quickly.

Shaw pressed Rodlek to the fence, and Rodlek smiled as he gestured to the crowd. Back in the center of the Circle, Rodlek's pace went back up. A strong hook to the body caught the attention of Shaw, and Rodlek then found the mark to drop Shaw with a right hook before the final bell.

Shaw answered the count, but the knockdown at the tail-end of the round was the most significant strike of the contest.
    1/31/2020 10:40:09 AM
    ROUND TWO

Rodlek pushed the action early in the round and focused on the body of the Scotsman. The two clinched, and Shaw tossed Rodlek to the mat.

The Thai's leg kicks landed with force, and a left hand followed. Shaw attempted to counter with a step-in elbow, but missed the mark.

The tempo by Rodlek was turned up as he fired off more combinations. The timing of Rodlek's leg kicks was on point in the second frame.
    1/31/2020 10:34:04 AM
    ROUND ONE

Shaw began strong with a push kick to force Rodlek on his back foot. The two exchanged leg kicks as part of the feeling out process early in the first round. Shaw switched stances and pumped out the jab to Rodlek's face. Rodlek began wading into the pocket to close the distance and fired off power shots, but Shaw covered up well.

Rodlek landed a left hook to the body of Shaw. Shaw continued to fire off high kicks, but Rodlek's defense prevented them from landing flush. Rodlek invited exchanges to negate the reach advantage and closed the round with a strong outside leg kick.

    1/31/2020 10:22:34 AM
    ROUND ONE

Huang went for the early left kick, but Torres stormed back with an offensive flurry of punches that nearly caught her off balance. The two women traded leather in the center before they wound up in the clinch.

An injury time out was called for Torres to recover from a groin strike. Once the action resumed, Huang went for the spinning elbow, but Torres was quick to counter with punches of her own.

Neither could land the clean hit, but once they got back into the clinch, Huang dug a few knees into the Filipina’s midsection.

A second accidental groin strike would halt the action momentarily, but ultimately, Torres was unable to continue.
